PC Problems Only
Hopefully, this page will be useful to all you non-computer savvy people. I don't know everything yet, but if you have any questions about your computer problems feel free to email me and I'll be happy to help (if I can).
Trick #1
Ok, this is the first trick I am going to teach you guys. First of all, if someone ever tells you to press Alt+F4 and you're not previously talking about closing a program DON'T DO IT. It's a simple trick that'll really mess you up and make you feel like an idiot. Pressing Alt+F4 closes any program that you have opened and is active (meaning you have clicked on it and the tab on your task bar is grayed-out).
Besides it being a jerk thing to do to someone, it's still funny to see the look on their face when it happens to them. Just make sure that they don't have something important open.
Alt+F4 is also a really useful tool to use to close any pop-ups that well, pop-up. It takes away the risk of accidentaly clicking on the add itself and exposing yourself to some unruly virus, or worse yet, a determined worm. Just make sure the pop-up is open otherwise you might acidentaly close out a different window!
Tip #1
Ok guys, so I know its easy to fill out your hard drive fast with a lot of pictures, videos, and downloads that you make, but I can tell you its an easy fix to free up some space on your hard drive.
Step 1: Start >> My Computer >> Right click your C:\ drive and from the drop-down menu select Properties.
Step 2: You have now opened the properties dialog box for your C:\ drive. Congratulations XD. Moving on, click on the Tools tab and then under Defragmentation click the Defragment Now button.
Step 3: The "Disk Defragmenter" dialog box should be open now. This will show you a list of the drives you have available for defrag. Make sure your C:\ drive is selected and right click it and then from the drop down menu choose Defragment.
After you click the button it'll start automatically. Mine takes about two to three hours and thats on a laptop with only 52GBs (I now have a much better laptop, but I kept this in here for reference). Your desktop computer may take more time, depending on how much you have stored on it.
Suggestion: I normaly open up task manager before I defrag and close out explorer.exe, but if you don't know what that is already and how to use task manager properly, I suggest to not try. You could really screw up your computer if you forget the command. However, if you do know what I am talking about, you'll know why I said that ^^
Well, I hope this helps. Now it may not free up a ton of space so don't get mad at me if it only freed up some megs.
